A Quick Detour

POP QUIZ!!!  See the photo above of my new accomodations...is it:

(a) the employee lounge at the IKEA store
(b) a poorly re-modeled Days Inn
(c) the hospital

The correct answer is (c).   I spiked a fever up over 101 degrees yestereday, so I was admitted to the hospital out of an abundance of caution.  These will be my new digs until I engraft.  The good news is that I'm already feeling better and my temperature was back to normal this morning.  I hope I engraft soon because it's not easy to sleep in the hospital when people have to come in and out of your room around the clock.

It also seems like I might be starting to lose my hair, which means another...POP QUIZ!!!  What part of the body is the first to lose hair:

(a) the head
(b) the weird hairs on your toes
(c) someplace geographically in the middle of (a) and (b) but that I'm not going to mention by name because my Mom reads this blog

Again, the correct answer is (c).  Another piece of knowledge that you can drop at your Memorial Day BBQ parties.  You're welcome.

  1. :-( Been wondering about you all weekend. Glad to have the update but sorry it's from the hospital. No rest for the wicked, huh? I know when I was in years ago I couldn't wait to get home to get some rest. As soon as I did, I felt much better. Hopefully the engrafting process will get off it's butt and get going so you can get some rest again. If you or Jen need anything, please let us know.

  2. Also was wondering. I guess we have been spoiled by your blogs-which are quite informative I might add. I got bored once in hospital, pulled my IV and went for a walk but would not recommend as they were not pleased with me. Hope you get home soon. As for the pop quiz I was banking on Ikea. And would have missed the hair thing completely. One learns something new every day! With all this info you have provided I may actually get someone interested in my conversation at the BBQ! I'm happy that your sense of humor remains intact. I admire and appreciate that you are sharing this part of yourself with all of us folks who care about you. Highly admirable!! Take care.Rick

  3. I never realised that you guys barbequed so much in FL! Despite the fact that wind is so strong in London, that it literally blows people in different directions - we may just have to dust off the old barbeque and share around our newly acquired knowledge! We are keeping our fingers crossed that you will get out of the hospital soon to eat some ribs! Or whatever else you guys put on the barbeque over there :) Love to Jen and the kids.

  4. It is great to see you are keeping your great sense of humor. We missed you yesterday as the awards were given out to the boys, however you are ever present in everyone's mind. Ricky says hello and is looking forward to telling you all about his hit at the last game. Randy took a lot of amazing photos throughout the season, so you'll get to see shots of Ricky's victory. Take care, we will keep you in our thoughts and prayers. - Desiree

  6. Hi Jason, think way back to KPMG and you may remember me, Amy then Richardson, now Brooks. Shannon shared your blog link with me. My prayers are with you and family. You look great and I am certain with your attitude and sense of humor you will be better than ever very soon! Again, praying for complete and total healing!

  7. Sorry to hear about the slight bump in the road but I am glad to see that your temperature is normal and your sense of humor is spiked! I missed the answer to the first question because I was so mesmerized by the weather forecast on the TV....what is that like? I have written all the trivia questions and answers in my notebook so I won't forget in case it ever stops raining here and we can have a barbecue. Thanks for these great blogs...as Willie says..."you are always on my mind"

  8. Hi Jason and Jennifer. I'm a newbee to the blog scene. As a matter of fact, this is my first blog ever! Wow... I got caught up on your progress and I'm glad that part is over for you and you are doing well after the fever scare. I just want you both to know that we keep you in our prayers, good vibes, and all that other stuff. I saw this really funny card -actually it is a birthday card- and I'm going to tell you about it because it is your new birthday and it made me laugh every time I read it. There are three older men taking a walk on the beach and the first man said "It sure is windy out here." And the second man said "It's not Wednesday. It's Thursday." And the third man said "I'm thirsty too, let's go get a beer!" If hearing loss is all we have to deal with as we age, then we are the lucky ones. I hope that gave you a good laugh. Thinking of you both. Angela Wishart
