Will I Turn Evil?

I've caught some grief over my life because I share a name with Jason, the hockey-mask wearing killer of hormone-fueled teenagers.  The Friday the 13th movies were a highlight of my Cinemax-fueled young adulthood.  If you look at my treatment calendar at the right of the blog page, you'll see that my once-faint connection to this coed cadaver-maker is about to grow stronger.  In transplant talk, "Day 0" is the day that stem cells are inserted to begin the process of re-generating the immune system that has been wiped out by high-dose chemotherapy.  Day 0 is often called a patient's new birthday.  That means my new birthday is Friday May 13th.  I am now Jason, "born" on Friday the 13th.  I'll be adding a machete to my pool equipment in case I need to hack to bloody pieces any frolicking teenagers who have sneaked into my pool to skinny dip.

  9. I think you should identify with Jason "Bourne". He's edgy, dangerous,a lady and cancer killer...
And when your finished with your treatments, Matt Damon could act in your life story!
    Now... that's an idea!

  10. I saw Lance the other day while out training in Oahu and he said that "You were his hero"....I'm just sayin'....I'll be outside the hospital in a few days with 2 bikes ready to get you back up and going. I know this disease doesn't stand a chance! Attack it like you do those races and everything will work out well!!!

I'll be out there on the road thinking good thoughts and praying for your quick return!

  12. Jason,
This is Dan Lucey, Lorraine Hoover's fiance. First of all, remember the power of positive thinking, it is UNDER RATED. Also, my mother went through the exact same thing and had chemo, bone marrow, the entire deal. That was OVER 15 YEARS ago and counting. So, if you need encouragement call Lorraine and me, we have a night in Buckhead reserved for you. You just let us know when you want to do that and we are there!! We had a great time with you in Atlanta when you were here.
    Love and blessings,
    Dan and Lorraine Lucey

  13. Jason:
I know the truth about the name Jason ... that when you were a boy and a new baseball fan you were thrilled that Jason Thompson of the Detroit Tigers had your first name. We'll be following your progress with prayers and best wishes. You have to stay strong to help me by keeping any eye on Bridget for the next four years.

  15. Jason: We are sending you mega positive vibes from London! You are in our thoughts. As I'm writing this, Ella is sitting in the middle of the floor throwing a proper tantrum (arms in the air and all) as she is not able to crawl just yet - and clearly really wants to move around. Reminds you of anybody we know??? :)
